Giving Thanks
I have quickly learned that it now takes me twice as long to get anything done these days, which is why this Thanksgiving post is coming to you about six days late. But the reason is well worth it!
Thanksgiving 2009 was a great day. We decided against traveling this year and to open our home to our family for Thanksgiving dinner. We hosted Thanksgiving two years ago in our home and had an absolute wonderful time. So this year, we decided to have Walter’s first Thanksgiving at home and we planned to repeat our dinner from a couple years ago. My parents came in from Winston for the day, as well as my father and brother-in-law. My father-in-law fried the turkey, which amazingly only took 42 minutes to cook about 12 pounds of bird – wow! My parents brought wine, cranberry sauce and rolls and the hubs and I took care of the rest. Our menu consisted of turkey, ham, green beans, rice, corn, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, pineapple cheese casserole, homemade apple pie and pumpkin pie, homemade ice cream cake and homemade sugar spiced nuts. All in all, we had a ton of food, great fellowship and a good time giving thanks for a great year.

Table for six. The dogs are in the background sniffing the meat table.

Said meat table in which the dogs were very excited about.

How my place setting will look for the next several years!

Yummy desserts! Admittedly my favorite table that day.
