What Does Walter Like?
Walter is about 5 1/2 weeks old, and he is growing so fast! He’s gaining weight and height, and becoming more and more alert every day. I’ve noticed this past week that he is starting to stay up a little more during the day (with the exception of yesterday – he slept like a log most of the day) and he loves to look around. At 5 weeks old, it’s amazing how I can already start to get a sense of Walter’s personality. He can’t do much right now, but what I can see about him is so fun to discover! So, what does Walter like?
Walter likes to be in his swing, with his “jungle noises” turned on and the mobile turning above his head.
Walter likes to be held sitting upright, with his head resting on your shoulder.
Walter likes looking at the ceiling (at what, we are not quite sure) and the animal prints hanging in his room. He also likes looking at his Noah’s Ark quilt that was handmade by my boss’s wife.
Walter likes to go on walks. And by liking to go on walks, I mean that he falls asleep with a content look on his face when we are out with the BOB.
Of course I would be remiss not to say that Walter loves his Mimi and his Birdie.
Walter likes to eat dinner about 6:15-6:30pm.
There are many more things that I’m sure Walter likes, or that he’ll soon discover that he likes over the next few months and years. Of course with all the things he does like, there are those things he does not like…
Walter does not like to be naked. Which means…
Walter does not like to have his clothes changed.
Walter usually does not like to have his diaper changed.
Walter does not like to take a bath. I guess being naked and wet is not a good combination (especially now that it’s getting cold)!
Walter doesn’t always like to be laid down, especially at night. (However, I am very proud of him today because last night he went to bed at 11pm, slept until 2am at which point I got up to feed him. He then slept from 3:15 to about 5:45am, at which point I fed him again. We didn’t go back to sleep after breakfast, but that is OK. We’ll take a nap later.)
Just as how Walter will discover things he likes, he’ll also discover things he doesn’t like. It’s fun getting to know Walter and figure out his personality. I can already tell he’s going to be a strong person, and probably a little stubborn. But I think he’ll be very smart and curious, and hopefully kind and generous. And I hope that he’ll always love his momma and daddy.
