Hibernation Day

Posted by Melanie on Jun 20, 2009 in Blog |

Today – the day before the official first day of summer – was unbearably hot and humid in North Carolina.  For the past few days, the meteorologists have been warning us about the heat forecasted for today.  The forecast you ask?  High humidity and temperatures reaching 100 degrees.

And this only meant one thing to a 5 1/2 month pregnant woman…

Staying indoors all day near an air conditioning vent with a cold drink in hand.

While I spent the majority of the day indoors, I did venture out a few times.  I woke up around 7:30 a.m. to take the dogs for a walk, and then I ran to the dry cleaner about 9:30.  I spent the rest of the day cleaning the house.  Scrubbing the kitchen, cleaning the bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, doing laundry, and straightening up.  By 5:30 p.m. I was finally done and BEAT!

I then decided to bake a cake (yum), take a shower and cook dinner.  After dinner I headed to the mall to drop into Motherhood Maternity.  I wanted to get some tank tops for when I walk the dogs (all my other ones are riding up on my belly, making me look a little white trash).  In addition to a few tank tops, I bought (unfortunately) a larger size of jean capri pants and a cute top.  I always feel kind of guilty buying maternity clothes because I know I won’t be wearing them for very much longer.  But, since this is my first pregnancy, I don’t have anything that fits.  At least I’ll save some money on clothes the next time around (unless the bulk of my pregnancy is in the winter next time, in which case I will have to buy winter maternity clothes).

After getting back from the mall, I frosted my cake and finally sat down on the couch and chatted with my husband.  So, it was a good “hibernation” day, and I hope that tomorrow will be a little cooler…yeah right.
