Baking Fail

Tonight I was in the mood to bake a cake, and my husband requested that I also bake up some chocolate chip cookies.  “Sure!” I replied.  “A nice cake and fresh batch of cookies would be yummy!”  I like to cook and I love to bake, especially around the holidays.  I consider myself pretty decent at both cooking and baking.

That was before I was pregnant.  Apparently pregnancy brain has settled in, and has affected my baking skills:

Cookie fail.  A properly baked cookie is shown next to the burnt cookies for reference.

Cake fail.  I greased the bundt pan.  Apparently I did not grease it enough.

So my attempt at baking this evening was not a complete success.  At least the cake tastes pretty good (lemon cake with a sugar glaze…it looked so pretty in my head) and I didn’t burn all the cookies.  Hopefully the next time I bake the results will look as good as they taste.
