The Ten Commandments

It’s not Easter without the epic classic The Ten Commandments. I’ve seen this movie countless times growing up, always on Easter weekend. The husband has never seen the movie, so when I saw that it was on TV tonight, I jumped at the chance to watch this classic and have the husband experience Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner. If you haven’t seen the movie, don’t worry – it will come on next Easter. I encourage you to watch it…all of it (it is about 3 hours long).

My folks watched it as a kid, I remember it coming on and I always left the room to do something else. I knew the story, but didn’t want to watch the movie for some reason. I can appreciate now, it was well worth nearly four hours of my time.
Showing it the night before Easter bothers me a little though. Not because I have a problem with Judaism and Passover, but because it sheds light on the Resurrection story clearly missing from television. Where is “Passion of the Christ” or something similar for Christians? Moses was a pivotal figure in both our histories, but there would be no Easter without Calvary.
