Happy Birthday (Sort of) River!
Last year on this day we adopted River. River is our sweet Lab mix that came to us by way of the Franklin County Humane Society. Of course we do not know River’s actual birthday, or even exactly how old she is, but she has become a dear member of our family and we can’t picture our lives without her.
Sydney loves River and looks up to her. Even though we think that Sydney probably annoys River at times, we know that Sydney adores her and we’re glad that they have each other when the Husband and I are away from home.
River loves to walk, sit outside on the deck, sleep on the cool hardwood floor during the summer and sleep on the floor on my side of the bed at night. She loves Milkbones, cheese and any kind of meat. She likes to chew on toys (when Sydney lets her) and have her back and belly scratched. She doesn’t appear to enjoy being bathed, but she is so cute and fluffy afterwards! She howls at dogs and people that walk by the house and has the urge to chase rabbits and squirrels on our walks. And if she hasn’t had a walk that day, chances are that she’ll be up at night wanting to go outside. We love River so very much, and we’re so glad that she is a part of our family!

River is a great dog. If we could only keep her from wanting to lay on the deck at 2am or licking the couch… all would be well.
