On The Go In Charlotte, Part Deux
Back in Charlotte today managing another work event. The only positive aspect of this trip so far has been getting to eat dinner last night with one of my friends from college. We headed over to The Cheesecake Factory in the Southpark area of Charlotte. It was fun to catch up and we had a great time.
Everything else has been downhill from there.
The hotel is certainly not as nice as the one I was at the first time I was in Charlotte this month.
They gave me the wrong room key and I opened my door to find someone else’s belongings on the bed. At least that was the only thing I found…that could have been a really bad situation.
The air conditioning unit in the room is super loud. It was hard to sleep. The sink area has no room to put stuff and the hallways kind of smell bad. The lobby area where I’m sitting now is dark and depressing. Fortunately, the staff at the hotel is pretty nice, especially the sales and catering department.
The program I’m running is going OK. The company rep that I am dealing with to run the program is super annoying. I don’t know how my co-worker who handles this group (and this particular company rep) on a regular basis does it. Racial slurs and raising your voice to me at 8:00 a.m. do not make me your friend. Telling me you want to re-arrange the set-up of the room, even though it was set to your exact specifications, makes me want to throw things at you.
I only have a few hours left and I can’t wait to hit the road and get back home. Unfortunately, I have to put on the exact same program back in Cary tomorrow. But at least I can hide out in my office and hopefully go home for lunch. Friday cannot come fast enough.
