This Is What I’m Talking About
For those of you who have yet to engage in a serious home improvement project, you may be wondering the toll it takes on a person. And I’m not talking about painting your guest room or making wooden flower boxes for your back deck in a single weekend. I’m not even talking about installing hardwood floors in your living room or replacing some windows. I’m talking about stripping down a room to the studs, removing sub-floor on the second floor and peering down at the top side of your dining room ceiling on the first floor. I’m talking about deciding how to replace moldly insulation, how to properly prime wall studs and floor joists and replacing faulty water main lines. I’m talking about discovering aisles in Home Depot and Lowes that you never knew existed, because you never before had to price out joint compound, search for insulation tape, buy nail stoppers for studs, and choose what sawsall to purchase. And speaking of Home Depot and Lowes, I’m talking about the employees starting to recognize you because it’s your fifth trip in less than a week, and your checking account reads like a store inventory sheet.
But in the end, it will be all worth it. I’ll be able to enjoy my beautiful new tile, my new vessel sinks and recessed mirrored vanities. I’ll hang my clothes in our new closet system and take a long bubble bath in my clean tub. I’ll finally be able to decorate the bathroom and put away all my things and sit on my bed and take in all the hard work we put into our new, fabulous bathroom.
Now, that’s what I’m talking about.
